Fire hydrant flushing begins May 18, 2015

The Jackson Township Fire Division will begin its annual fire hydrant flushing May 18, 2015.  Firefighters will be in the vicinity flushing hydrants from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays until all areas of Jackson Township have been completed. Hydrant flushing is expected to take two to four weeks.

Hydrant flushing may cause water to become rusty and appear discolored.  Although the water is not harmful to drink, it can cause discoloration of laundry.  Products are available at most area pharmacies and grocery stores that should remove rust from clothing if discolored when washed in the rusty water.
