Help Eagle Scout candidate by donating used flags

Life Scout Caleb Porter from Boy Scout Troop 136 in Grove City sponsored by the First Presbyterian Church is working on his Eagle Scout project — organizing and presenting a flag retirement ceremony. Residents are encouraged to drop off their used American flags in donation boxes at all Jackson Township fire stations, Jackson Township Administration Building and City of Grove City City Hall.

“I selected my Eagle Scout project because my grandfather is a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and shows his respect and patriotism for the flag and our country everyday by flying Old Glory in his front yard,” Porter said. “This is why this project means so much to me. My goal is to educate others like I have been on how to properly respect and retire the American flag.”

The flag retirement ceremony is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 4, 2015 at the First Baptist Church shelter house at 3301 Orders Road in Grove City, Ohio. Everyone is welcome.
