Firefighters, police officers to play ‘Buddy Ball’

Nearly 30 firefighters from the Jackson Township Division of Fire and police officers from the Grove City Division of Police are volunteering their time to team up with the Buddy Ball League of Grove City for “First Responders Day”.

“I thought this would be a great opportunity for the fire and police departments to give back to the community in a fun and rewarding atmosphere for all,” said Shawn Quincel, deputy fire chief of the Jackson Township Division of Fire.

Four, 40-minute games including nearly 80 league players will begin at 9 a.m. July 23, 2016 at the Mirolo Dream Field at Mount Carmel Stadium south of Windsor Park off Ventura Boulevard in Grove City, Ohio. All are welcome to attend but encouraged to park off Babbert Way or in the Evans Center parking lot.

“These first responders who are volunteering their time are going above and beyond the call of duty,” said Becki Kintz of the Buddy Ball League of Grove City. “These kids are going to be beside themselves.”

The event will include touch-a-truck with a fire engine, medic unit and police vehicle onsite as well as a special visit by Sparky the Fire Dog.
