Fire hydrant flushing begins May 16, 2016

Jackson Township Fire Department personnel will begin their annual fire hydrant flushing program May 16, 2016. Firefighters will flush hydrants from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays until 2,300 fire hydrants in the township including the City of Grove City and Urbancrest have been serviced.

Hydrant flushing may cause water to appear rusty and discolored. Although the water is not expected to be harmful to drink, items washed in the water may become discolored. Area retailers sell products to remove discoloration in the unlikely event it occurs.

The program is expected to take two to four weeks to complete. Anyone with questions or concerns may call the fire department administrative assistant at (614) 875-5588.
