Columbus Annexation

Gravel Quarry Issues

On December 1, 2009 a request for annexation to the City of Columbus was filed by Mr. Jones, owner of 89.3 acres of land along Jackson Pike north of Stringtown Road (see site map).  This is the second time for the annexation request, as it was unsuccessfully filed for annexation in September 2008.   The Township Board of Trustees and the Grove City Council oppose both the annexation and the proposed use of the land as a gravel quarry. A letter expressing the Township's concerns was sent to Columbus on Dec. 9, 2009.

The Township Board of Trustees encourages all interested parties to write letters of opposition to the Columbus City Council.  A sample letter as well as persons to contact are included in the links below.

Time is of the essence....this matter is scheduled as follows:

Dec. 14, 2009     1st reading before the Columbus City Council

Feb. 2, 2010       Hearing before the Franklin County Commissioners

April 2010           Legislative Action before Columbus City Council
